Miss Utah Week

4th runner up - Hanna Christenson and myself - 2nd runner up

Thank you all for the support and love! I am not Miss Utah this year but I am so honored to have won the Miracle Maker award and Swim preliminary once again this year! The Miracle Maker award is given to the contestant who raised the most money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. I was able to do that because of the people in Davis County! Also I walked away as the 2nd runner up. It was a great accomplishment and I will receive much needed college scholarship money. One of the largest volunteer groups and service opportunities is the Miss America Organization. I am honored to have participated in the program. I sure love the Miss Utah Organization- Thank you to my friends family and my new amazing friends I left with! And a big thank you to the Miss Utah family for all you do!! I love each and every one of you! I will be doing a service project in the next month that our community can become involved with - not as a title holder but as Ciera Pekarcik :) Stay tuned for more!

This isn't Goodbye - I just got started!

It is finally here - Miss Utah week. I want to thank all my supporters, the community, my sponsors and my family! This year has been a lot of fun and exciting work as well as big learning experience. I am passionate about what the Miss America Organization can do for the young woman, our community and anyone who chooses to be involved. I have been able to raise over 1500 dollars for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (aka Primary Children's Medical Center in SLC) because of your contributions as a community and involvement in service. I have done over 500 hrs of service myself through several events I organized as well as those of others! For the chance to become involved - I thank you. The email list that was started just 3 months ago has grown to over 50 followers! This blog alone has had over 1500 views! None of this would be possible with out you.. YOU! Thank you! I love you all and will continue to promote service the rest of my life. I know what it can do for each individual and for a community. Utah Davis County Children's Justice Center Golf Tournament

I'm very passionate about what the Utah Davis County Children's Justice Center does. They are a resource for Davis County families with children who have been sexually abused. Their Center provides a comfortable, child friendly environment where highly trained professionals talk with the children about what has happened to them. The Center provides medical care for abused children, crisis counseling for their families, and provides a forum for case staffings between investigators and prosecutors. Over 400 Davis County Children were seen at the Center last year.I have been on the "Friends board" at the Davis County Children's Justice Center for the past two years. I have been able to work with some amazing people as well as create different fun ways to raise money for the CJC. This morning, bright and early, was their annual Golf Tournament.
This is one of my favorite events - I was able to participate last year as well but the weather was not nearly as nice.

Ernie, the owner of Schneiders Bluff, and myself get along really well!

This is one amazing man.
.. and he taught me a few tricks.

Although the Utah Davis County Children's Justice Center Golf Tournament was a lot of work.. we made some time to play as well :)

glee DC sectionals

Today- Thursday May 19th I was honored to judge a 4-H Glee contest. Several 4-H after-school Glee programs have spent the past few months rehearsing and preparing two songs for the Davis County Glee competition. In this process they have learned vital preforming skill that will most defiantly carry them in life no matter what they decide to do. It was beyond difficult to choose one group to walk away with the trophy but somehow we did it. It was a rainy day full of some amazing talent! This was one fun event and I was thrilled to be part of it! Way to go everyone!
The three judges who made the decisions. Davis County commissioner Louenda Downs, Casey Allen (Musical expertise) and myself.
The Black Outs were a little excited to win the Glee contest :)
What talent Davis County has!! Keep preforming!

Another wonderful meeting with the Davis County Commissioner's

Tuesday, May 17th, I asked to meet with the Davis County Commissioners. I was able to update them on all the fun events I have had the privilege of being involved in lately - I was also able to tell them how my own events had gone in the past few months. I also informed them about the upcoming Miss Utah activities starting June 20th to June 25th.We discussed how positive the Miss Davis County program has been not only for myself and the other young woman involved but also our community as a whole. I love our commissioner's for many reasons, but mainly because they understand and can see what this organization does. I look forward to their constant support of the Miss Davis County Pageant!

Make Unders - Not Make Overs

I had the honor of speaking with a group of young woman about their beauty inside and beauty outside. I explained that I have found a way to become a balanced young woman through pageants. It was a lot of fun to see all the different interests these girls had. We all discussed by using our talents and serving others you can define yourself as an individual. We also talked about taking care of our bodies by working out – eating right – protecting our skin from the sun– being clean etc. Next we discussed our unique beauty and how we are all beautiful because of our differences and that you should focus on reaching your own potential and not to compare yourself to others. I than started some “Make Unders” as appose to “Make Overs”- I explained that make up is meant to enhance who you are.. not change you or hide you. We had a lot of fun playing with different natural looks – these girls all had different styles and they all looked beautiful! What an impressive group of young ladies!
Thank you for letting me come be a part of your lives. Remember to be your own beauty!

Reading at KinderCare in Farmington

On April 25th I was able to go visit KinderCare in Farmington! I read some of my favorite books to the kindergarten class. Although KinderCare's Farmington location is just a few years old KinderCare has supported our local communities and families for more than 40 years. This company promotes literacy each and every day; they are partners with tens of thousands of children in learning to read, every year. I love that this daycare has such a strong emphasis on education. I was honored to be able to promote the importance of reading to our children as Miss Davis County to one of our Davis County KinderCare's. I look forward to future relationships and a possible service chain with these adorable kids! Thank you Farmington KinderCare for loving Davis County's children.
